Britney Spears shares the meaning of her post on Justin Timberlake

Britney Spears makes it clear that she has no toxic intent.

The pop star explained the significance of her since-deleted January 17 Instagram post, which showed a throwback photo of her and her ex Justin Timberlake wearing matching basketball uniforms.

“The photo with my ex is a time when there was less confusion about what it meant to be together,” she wrote on her Instagram Story on January 19. “It’s like that !!!”

The day after the retrospective was posted with Justin, she also shared a clip of herself getting a tattoo in Maui, though she hid the ink from fans “because it sucks. Like really really rubbish !!!”

Despite reports suggesting the wrong tattoo was linked to her post about Justin, Britney, who got married Sam Asghari in June 2022 – set the record straight by saying the two posts are unrelated.

“Just to clarify…my tattoo had nothing to do with an ex in the past!!!” she added on her Instagram story. “I just did it because I wanted to!!!”

Justin’s appearance on Britney’s Instagram comes nearly two years after the ‘Mirrors’ singer apologized to her ex after the premiere of Framing Britney Spears. The documentary’s release in February 2021 drew criticism from fans over Justin’s comments about Britney, who he dated from 1999 to 2002.

“I have seen the posts, tags, comments and concerns and want to respond,” he wrote on Instagram at the time. “I am deeply sorry for the time in my life when my actions contributed to the problem, when I spoke up rightly or wrongly or did not speak out about what was right. I understand that I have failed in these times and many more and benefited from a system that tolerates misogyny and racism.”
