Banshees of Inisherin stars Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson are reportedly missing out on the Critics’ Choice Awards after testing positive for COVID-19.
The news was announced by Variety Culture & Events editor Marc Malkin in a Tweeter published on Saturday evening, but he did not cite a specific source.
Colin, 46, is up for the Best Actor gong for his performance in The Banshees of Inisherin while Brendan, 67, will compete in the Best Supporting Actor category.

Colin, Brendan and Jamie Lee were all in attendance at Tuesday’s Golden Globe Awards ceremony, where Colin won Best Actor – Motion Picture – Musical/Comedy gong for her acclaimed role in The Banshees of Inisherin.
Farrell plays an Irish drinking buddy in the dark tragicomedy, which centers on two lifelong friends who hit a stalemate when Brendan Gleeson’s character – a brooding folk musician – abruptly ends their relationship.

The Banshees of Inisherin was nominated in a multitude of categories at the Critics’ Choice Awards, racking up a grand total of nine nominations.
The film is a top contender in the Best Picture race and Colin remains a favorite in the Best Actor category.
Barry Keoghan is nominated alongside Brendan for Best Supporting Actor, while Kerry Condon is up for Best Supporting Actress.
The film’s writer-director Martin McDonagh is nominated for Best Screenplay and Best Director, while its entire cast was nominated for Best Ensemble.
But the film and its stars face fierce competition from other critical darlings such as Tár, Elvis, The Whale, The Fabelmans and Everything Everywhere All at Once.

In his Golden Globes acceptance speech, Colin spoke of the overwhelming critical acclaim the film has received, which sees him reunite with his In Bruges co-star Brendan Gleeson.
Colin said, “Working on this film, I never expect films to work or find an audience and when they do, it shocks me.” I am horrified by what has happened over the past two months, in an exciting way.
The Banshees of Inisherin also won Best Picture – Musical/Comedy and Best Screenplay for writer-director Martin McDonagh, whom Farrell praised in his speech.
“Martin Mcdonagh,” he said, “I owe you so much man.”
Colin then showered Gleeson with love, saying, “Brendan, I love you so much. I love you so much.’
